After School Enrichment Program: |
The after school program at LAS includes an intervention
component and an enrichment component. On Mondays, Tuesdays
and Wednesdays, eligible students attend an academic
intervention program after school. Teachers and staff focus
instruction on literacy and comprehension in either Spanish or
English, depending on the child.
On Thursdays and Fridays, the after school enrichment
component of our program at LAS has provided our students with
access to extra-curricular activities often not available to
them. For the past three years, students have had an
opportunity to participate in the following classes: Golf,
Capoeira, Ballet Folklorico, Arts and Crafts, Pottery, Hip-Hop
Dance, Guitar, Technology, Girl Scouts, and Knitting. Our
partnership with the California Musical Theatre (CMT) has
allowed our students to experience drama and acting during the
day as well as after school.
